Abstract

This article examines the theoretical and methodological foundations, economic opportunities, and prospective directions for using green finance instruments to finance enterprise export activities. It argues that increasingly stringent environmental requirements in global trade, the need to reduce the carbon intensity of production, improve energy and resource efficiency, and ensure the compliance of export products with environmental criteria are reshaping the structure of enterprises’ financing needs. Contemporary academic research considers green loans, sustainability-linked loans, and other environmental financing instruments as mechanisms capable of linking enterprises’ access to capital with their environmental performance. In particular, the analysis demonstrates that, unlike conventional trade finance, green trade finance not only facilitates the financing of cross-border transactions but also creates opportunities to encourage enterprises to transition toward low-carbon production and environmentally sustainable supply chains. The article also highlights the need to closely align access to green financial resources with export-oriented enterprises’ adoption of energy-efficient technologies, the environmental modernization of production, improvements in resource-use efficiency, and adaptation to international environmental requirements.
