This article examines the theoretical and practical aspects of developing insurance mechanisms in Uzbekistan’s livestock sector. Livestock farming is one of the key branches of agriculture, with production activities significantly exposed to natural and climatic, epizootic, veterinary, technological, and market-related risks. In this context, livestock insurance serves as an important instrument for strengthening the financial stability of farming and dehkan households, compensating for unforeseen losses, and expanding access to credit resources. The study analyzes the existing regulatory and legal framework governing livestock insurance in Uzbekistan, trends in livestock populations, major insurance risks, and opportunities for further improving the livestock insurance system. Furthermore, the article presents scientifically grounded practical recommendations for developing the livestock insurance market, taking into account the planned phased introduction of agricultural risk insurance during 2026–2028.Keywords
