FOREIGN EXPERIENCE IN SERICULTURE DEVELOPMENT: ORGANIZATIONAL AND ECONOMIC MECHANISMS APPLICABLE TO UZBEKISTAN

This article analyzes foreign organizational and economic models of sericulture development
and identifies mechanisms that may be adapted to the conditions of Uzbekistan. The study focuses on the
experience of China, India, and Tajikistan, which represent different but practically significant development
paths, including a full value-chain and export-oriented cluster model, a smallholder support and quality incentive
model, and a raw-material base restoration model.
The results show that the sustainable development of sericulture requires not only increasing cocoon
production but also strengthening mulberry plantations, improving seed quality, introducing contractual relations,
expanding deep processing, applying transparent electronic trade mechanisms, and providing targeted financial
support. The proposed recommendations are aimed at increasing value added, stabilizing farmers’ incomes,
and improving the export potential of Uzbekistan’s silk industry.
